headsets. All you need to do is unscrew the back part of legacy ARC assembly and replace it with M-LOK compatible one. Apart from that, the Unity Tactical Modular Attached Rail Kit (MARK) is also compatible with M-LOK rails. It also allows the use of MSA or TCI headsets (with additional SARA kit). MTEK FLUX Carbon is currently available in two sizes designated as 1 (equivalent for M/L) and 2 (L/XL), as well as in five colors: black, green, or Coyote, and hydro-dipped Crye Precision Multicam and Multicam Black. MTEK FLUX comes in a carrying bag together with the manual and two sets of inner pads. The current MSPR is $698. Despite a high number of competitors, products by MTEK gain popularity among uniformed services all over the world and more and more often you can see them used by officers and soldiers of special forces. IN USE MTEK FLUX Carbon is a solid piece of work, but its shape reminds you of all those futuristic helmets one can find in sci-fi movies. First, I had some reservations about the stability provided by the simple retention system (I have been used to more complex solutions as in OCC-Dial or BOA). However, it appeared that the liner and retention system paired together with the under-cut shape of the shell provide a high stability on the head, even when there is some additional load of headphones, MOHOC camera, and night vision devices. When you run or make some quick movements, the FLUX will not change its position on your head. The chinstrap are easily adjustable, while the Impact Liner with adjustable pads allows fitting the helmet of even the most unusual shape of head. When worn for a long time, the FLUX Carbon will not move and has no tendency of changing the adjustments. The rails provide a firm attachment of accessories, although they lack the possibility of attaching, e.g. Princeton Tec Charge lights (but it is possible, all you need to do is fix the flashlight to a Velcro strap over the rail). But I am pretty sure that relevant connectors and adapters will appear soon on the market – after the M-LOK standard is adopted by USSOCOM, such a scenario is just a matter of time. The Wilcox L4 shroud is very stable and night vision goggles will not wobble, provided that you used the proper arm. Resistance – this headgear saved me from several serious hits and there are still no signs of damage on it. Apart from parachuting, climbing, or drills in enclosed rooms, such non- ballistic head protection will also be perfect for water activities or during mundane tasks, like skiing or mountain bikes! www.fragoutmag.com
