In case of shooting, to check our skills, most suitable are different types of drill, shooting standards, typical for every weapon type and "discipline". With obvious reasons FBI tests are very different from one that sport shooting guy may take, but some of them we can use in many "disciplines". Those shooting quizzes are aimed to: Ä Spice up our shooting training; Ä Estimate shooter's skill lever and allow to compare with others shooters Ä Identify faults & mistakes There are different types of drills and exercises that are aimed to check or train each element, but it's good sometimes to take more complicated test and do it "with cold barrel". It is aimed to check out skillset without any warm up – you enter the shooting range and right away you take the test. Of course after that we can train elements that went worst and verify committed fault and progress. Good example of that kind of shooting test is DOT TORTURE TEST by David Blinder (http://personaldefensetraining. com). It is simple (not to say banal) test, that requires only 50 rounds, A4-size printed target and at least two magazines. And off course, shooting range. DOT TORTURE TEST focuses mostly on precision shooting and repeatability of weapon handling (so called muscle memory) – there are no time limits, forced positions, over- complicated difficulties. None of that. Just you, 50 rounds, weapon and piece of paper hanging not even 3 meters from you. You shooting on your own, at your own tempo, you do not even need instructor or other person that will give you commands. Target is sheet of paper that is A4 size with 10 circles (those are the "DOTS") with 5 cm diameter each. Procedure of the test is simple: www.fragoutmag.com
