US forces divide the whole soldier garb and gear into „fighting load" and „existence
load includes only those things that are used in combat: weapons, load bearing
ammunition, water, first aid kit, uniform, helmet and body armor. The remaining
soldier's equipment required for living in the field have always been intended
vehicles. They have been carried by soldiers only in the absence of such possibility.
