Just as I mentioned at the beginning – DOT TORTURE TEST ought to be done with "cold barrel", without any warm up with focus on the precision of every shot. Such a test and its analysis allow finding elements that we have to train on to boost out accuracy and eliminate the faults. It is worth to mention that test should be read little different when firing SAO/SF weapon and different when SA/DA weapon – shot fired from self-tensor will be little far from others bullet holes but this is obvious. Test is constructed in a way that we can make it harder in every direction, standing little further from the target or making any time limits for each exercise. In order to faster our learning process it is good to start with version without any time limits and consecutively with getting perfect accuracy in all exercises add time limits or increase the distance to the target. Step by step – add half a meter or whole meter. Not even 3 meters is not great length – from that distance even complete FNG hits the „French Guy Target" and do it probably near the center rectangle. In case of DOT TORTURE TEST targets are so small that new guy will have big problems hitting them right and about experienced shooters will force to give full focus and control of what they doing. From instructors point of view, such a test on the warm up allows me to assess what is the skill level of the group, where particular students have faults and what to focus during the class. If a student shows another time on the range, it is good to look into his card and check where the flaws and which is training element that is in need to be fixed. Additionally comparison of scores over the weeks/ months/years (depending on intensity of training) will be helpful in progress assessment. www.fragoutmag.com
