MS, Asz: Actually, there was no idea for individual elements of the system – by definition, it is designed as a complex solution, and we didn't have the time to experiment, especially given the fact that most of these elements are simple. For example, the cargo pocket of the DROMADER system looks like any other cargo pocket, and the pistol magazine pouch looks like most pistol pouches currently manufactured. Polish users, both civilian and military, have a very limited experience with original products – we're flooded with "re- plicas of replicas", like in the case of popular brands made in China. So it's often hard to say what the designers were inspired by. But one thing is certain – they are not able to come up with anything new, because they have no imagination and knowledge. Further elements of DROMADER, more specialized, will offer a number of interesting features. The whole system is coherent from design and visual point of view because it was the point. It was to follow a con- sistent aggressive style. Each element features some details that make it possible to optimize production and reduce the system's weight. These details are not perceptible to ordinary users, but they do affect production economy. FO!: sOMe systeM eleMents lOOk FaMiliar – Where DiD yOu DraW yOur inspiratiOn FrOM? MS, ASz: The design team didn't have the time to experiment and "preach to the converted". We opted for proven solutions, in world- wide use for 20 years, but which (unfortunately) are still treated as novelty in Poland – everything is rocket science compared to our beloved webbing. In other words – we have taken advantage of good, reliable solutions. Of their elements, actually. We've combined them with our vision to create what we believe is something optimal and doesn't infringe any copyrights. But sure, there are some simi- larities (e.g. knee straps) to products offered by big brands. But it's certainly not imitation – it's like with cars: every car has an engine, four wheels, a steering wheel, an ABS, and a set of wipers. FO!: What is DrOMaDer cOMpOseD OF? MS, ASz: DROMADER consist of three main components: the MAPA camouflage pattern (undergoing advanced testing at the moment), uniform and individual equipment. The biggest element – the indi- vidual equipment – includes pockets, pouches, and a plate carrier. What's more, the second stage involves designing backpacks, and ttransport bags. The idea is to make the system include virtually all elements a soldier may need in a modern battlefield. Vests will be available in several versions – we don't expect one plate carrier to address the needs of all users. That's what specialized versions are for. Working on the system is also an opportunity to design a new helmet that would replace the archaic wz. 2005 (based on old US PASGT) and the much more modern – but still average – HBK-01 high-cut style helmet. www.fragoutmag.com
