I haven't had EDC folding knives for a long time that had so many adventures with me until those two. This is a privilege for knives that come to me during summer vacation. Both knives were by my side alternately during every single trip, helping from time to time with prosaic actions that happen during summer leisure. Freek has conquered with me a rock raising above Izery ravine in the end replacing dull cutlery in pizza restaurant in one of half- deserted Czech towns. Freel took part in bike, downhill ride from Mount Śnieżnik to help me in opening a beer bottle and cutting sausages for the BBQ. On the other hand, Boost endured a long hike through Ukrainian and Romanian Carpathians while serving in the role it is meant to – everyday carry. I carried it during sunny and rainy days, calm and windy ones. Despite 130 grams of weight it added in my backpack, it helped to get myself to my destination. With a little disappointment I must admit that EDC knife is much more useful in everyday activities than during adventurous trips. Knives worked during few campfires where they cut branches and sharpened sticks, made wooden shavings and cut buns. Both models did their job well, but for me Freek was slightly more comfortable. Higher cut gives better cutting abilities with similar blade thickness. Thumb ramp helps in guiding blade and allows to put bigger force without losing control while precise cutting. Corrugated ramp between scales is a disadvantage for me – it easily gets dirty and is difficult to clean. Boost, as well as Freek, worked well in such things like slicing bread or big cuts of meats. Boost was a bit better in making wooden shavings from thick branches – activity far more strength-depending than precise that required a hammer grip. This summer weather was a bit moody so I had a chance to observe how knives react with high humidity. Both handles, while wet, are even better to grip and blades were totally unaffected by rain etc. Little spots of rust appeared on BM590 without coating after I used it to spread mustard. IN USE NOŻE
