Model: Benchmade 590 Boost Benchmade 560 Freek Steel: CPM S30V CPM S30V Hardness: HRC 58-60 HRC 58-60 Handle: Grivory, Versaflex Grivory, Versaflex Total length: 21,64 cm 21,49 cm Blade length: 9,40 cm 9,14 cm Blade thickness: 3,048 mm 2,896 mm Weight: 130,12 g 105,46 g Also in home they were useful. Thanks to its great cutting abilities both knives replaced kitchen knifes in cutting slices of ham for scrambled eggs, peeling potatoes (despite thick blades it was quite quick and handle ergonomics were very important) or cutting sandwiches in small dices (you know, little kids...). Boost and Freek were also used in mushroom collecting, one in each front pocket. BM590 is nearly unnoticeable as it's deep carry clip allows to hide almost whole knife in the pocket. BM560 isn't as discreet but it also doesn't attract an eye. Difference in weight is noticeable on the other hand. Boost is 25 grams heavier due to its steel liners. When I started testing, I was wondering if Benchmade still can make a pretty good folding knife. As a main measure I chose comparison to Griptilian considered as the best EDC folding knife by many. Despite failed concept of assisted opening system in Boost, both knives endure a comparison with a cult predecessor, maybe even being better than it. Rubberized handle to which I was skeptical turned out to be perfect solution made clearly for requirements which are expected from such fine tool. SUMMARY www.fragoutmag.com
