There also a few different types of muzzle devices de- signed to increase weapon ef- fectiveness in different situa- tions and scenarios. Currently there are four types of muzzle devices that differs in size and its purpose. Flash hider except primary function also provides (limited) noise reduction of the shot. Flash is practically invisible so shooter can't be located by noise or flash. Flash hider is dedicated for confined spac- es and CQB scenarios where length of the weapon impacts shooter mobility. For CQB scenarios, 20 rounds maga- zines are used. If mission does not require compact size of the weap- on but requires better noise reduction, then suppressor can be attached for use with subsonic ammunition. In that case usually 10 rounds mag- azines are used. Operator that shooting from prone posi- tion with bipod and long sup- pressor attached would have problem using 20 rounders. -12 rifle can also fire with- out either flash hider or sup- pressor but level of noise and flash will be really intensive. Use of ammunition with so much specific features, re- quired engineers to find un- usual design solutions for such unique weapon systems. Most of the classic modern ri- fles are gas operated.
