The thing that kept almost every- one waiting was an opportunity to shoot BREN 2 assault rifles variants chambered in 5.56 x 45 NATO and Soviet 7.62 X 39 which were avail- able with three barrel lengths (8, 11 and 14 inches which are according- ly 207, 280 and 357mm). Rifles were equipped with op- to-electronical sight and the targets were met- al ones set on 100m range. Shooting from those new rifles is very nice, caliber doesn't really matter, but we must admit that AK rounds recoil can be felt much more. Despite that, hitting targets while standing was easy job. BREN 2 is theoretically just an improved version of CZ 805 BREN assault, but to be honest it is new weapon ground up. The legacy rifle was ergonomically mediocre, large, heavy and front-forward balanced. Additionally, reciprocating charging handle could cause injuries. New BRENs are not only nicer and better to handle, but also better balanced, lighter and much "friendlier" for the user. It is fully ambidextrous, it has easily changeable barrel and short stroke piston gas system, 45 de- grees fire selector. Bolt catch is with- in trigger guard (very similar to that in G36). BREN does not have a pos- sibility to change brass extraction, side but it has very effective brass deflector which changes direc- tion of brass flying out.. It has quite comfortable stock and pistol grip. When it comes to d i s a s s e m b l i n g , it requires few more moves than in MSBS or SCAR for exam- ple. It can be said that, new, BREN 2 is a well-made us- er-friendly weapon has big chances to become a success in the market. We can expect civilian version to be an- nounced shortly as it was with pre- vious version (CZ 805 BREN S1). Finally, we had a chance to play with the latest development of CZ, the 7.62 NATO chambered BREN BR Battle Rifle. The rifle itself is bigger and reinforced for use with more powerful rounds. It is a select fire weapon. Shooting was surprisingly nice – recoil is not so powerful as we could expect, but unfortunately, we were only allowed to shoot sin- gle fire only. Ergonomics are great. Targets were located on 300 meters range and had no problems with hitting them, event when we shot quickly round by round. Apart from Bren, we were also able to shoot CZ TSR (Tactical Sniper Rifle), the .308 Win bolt ac- tion snipe rifle with 26 inch 1:11 RH twist barrel with triple-chambered muzzle device/compensator on the business end. TSR comes with two- stage match trigger, aluminum alloy chassis and side-folded stock with fully adjustable check piece and butt pad. The pistol grip is separated and can be change if required. There two MIL-STD-1913 rails for optics and accessories. Last but not least, we have op- portunity to become familiar with 4M company products, which a "sub-brand" of CZ specialized in design and manufacturing of tacti- cal gear and uniforms and ballistic protection equipment. 4M products are quite interesting but their vests look to be to complex and quite "over-protective". On the other hand, concealable body armor which on the first glimpse look like sleeve- less shirts (Spirit Open, Flexi and Comfort) are interesting. According to 4M info, vests are very comfort- www.fragoutmag.com
