full portfolio of Equipnor (NFM subsidiary), company that provides Norwegian army a wide range of weap- ons and gear such as Carinthia's sleeping bags and clothing. It was there when I saw for the first time such advanced winter clothing and lightweight jack- ets with G-Loft insulation, providing thermal com- fort in -40C. Then I bought my first Carinthia LIG 3.0 jacket with G-Loft. I'm still using it and can't say a single bad world about it. In general, I haven't heard any negative comments on Carinthia stuff. I've been praising them myself, mostly those I had so my re- action for that request was simple. Sure, give me three! But as it is well-known fact that FRAG OUT! Guys are a bunch of niggards and they gave me only one (I was about to throw a tantrum but I let it go). Ultra Shirt jacket gave me a funny impression in the beginning, but after investigating it more thoroughly it made me very curious. Quilting, design of sleeves and middle part of back gave me an impression of a Scorpion's suit from Mortal Kombat. It meant that I must have it. According to my first impression of Scorpion's suit I chose a two-tone, green/black version as it high- lights different parts better. After arrival I did ini- tial evaluation. The main color is green-brown. The shirt was made very well, typically for Carinthia. U-Shirt has front zipper and is described by produc- er as a sleek and thin insulating layer and as such, it does the job. It has a simple elastic sleeve cuffs and bottom cuff, not adjusted, there is an elastic band. Very simple and a good solution which I earlier saw in NFM's GARM softshell jacket. I suppose it is not a ground-breaking but it is me who met it quite late. C arinthia Ultra Shirt is extremely comfortable and doesn't restrict movement. It provides pret- ty good insulation without bulk. What irritates me in U-Shirt is a lack of pockets. No pockets at all. I do understand it is somehow justified, but I simply like to have a pocket or two. Another weak point is nylon fabric in quilted parts. It is not abrasion resis- tant and gets caught easily so on the outer surface of my Ultra Shirt, tiny balls of G-Loft can be seen and abrasions too. I must explain that it is probably the effect of how I use it, often as my top layer. It was perfect in autumn but got damaged from my sling and drawing spare magazines and a pistol. Summarizing – Carinthia Ultra Shirt is a very good modern "sweater" with 25% weight of the typical wool sweater and provides same thermal insulation and 75% thinner than same sweater. Only cons is prone to damages. CLOTHING
