R abbit's POV As I have known the idea of a "down sweater" for a long time, I haven't had such piece of clothing so far. I was using mostly different fleeces or jackets like Arc'teryx Atom. U-Shirt is my first down sweater (not precisely down) which I have used for last few months. I've been wearing it stand-alone during cooler sum- mer days or evenings, as a mid-layer with softshells and hardshells, as my office shirt to go (right now I am wearing it writing this piece) and as another lay- er with different insulation jackets. In every case it worked as it was supposed to, as a sweater. Not that itchy one that your grandma knitted but as modern insulation layer that protected from cold, drizzle and wind blows. It will not protect from strong wind or rain but also regular sweater won't do. U-Shirt isn't for that too. I haven't worn it downrange without top layer, so I didn't damage it. Of course, it survived other dan- gerous conditions like washing in a washing machine. Color is still the same, sleeves are elastic too. U-shirt is very well-fitted thing so it won't cover exces- sive amounts of body. Sleeves are well fitted too so it is an advantage while wearing it as a mid-layer, but it is also a disadvantage when you want to check the time. Design is rather interesting, but I have chosen a solid black version because "Scorpion's armor" is a bit of extravaganza to me. Parts from elastic material are doing well so you don't have a feeling of being restricted in any way. I really like the idea of flexible insert in the back. Armpit mesh vents are great idea and you won't get sweaty while wearing U-shirt. Even while indoors with cotton t-shirt underneath it. www.fragoutmag.com
