HS515GM
Holosun HS515GM shares most
of the features of HS503. The
content of the kit is different and
the body is hard-anodized 7070-
T6 aluminum. It comes with QD
mount and can be used in 1/3 or
absolute co-witness configuration.
The mount holds zero pretty well,
but I strongly suggest checking the
screws and applying the Loclite if
necessary.
The HS515GM is dedicated mili-
tary/tactical sight. THe flip-up and
honeycomb kill-flash lens covers
included in the kit for glare reduc-
tion. Both covers can be detached.
To be totally honest, we decided to
quickly remove both as they extend
tube of the body and were causing
the key-hole effect. Micro red dots
have 20 mm lenses and the thin walls of
tube improves the field of view. Every part
added to the tube limits the FOV. It's op-
tics! The idea of lens covers is nice, but
they should be attached on the outside of
the body. This won't have such negative
impact on the field of view.
Except the covers, the sight looks solid.
The hard-anodized coating works perfect-
ly and does not wear down. The bright-
ness adjustment and reticle selection
(2MOA dot or 65 MOA circle + 2 MOA dot)
with top buttons is smooth and the clicks
are clear even in gloves.
We would recommend HS515GM for some-
one looking for more rugged alternative
to HS503/403. The solid QD mounts im-
proves the tactical flexibility without back-
up sights. Kill-flash or flip-up lens covers
are nice touch.
