In past decade the tactical is The Word. We have tac-
tical shirts, pants, flashlights, diapers… Heck, why
not the tactical chucks? Sure, there were some limi-
ted editions of Vans Sk-8 sneakers in different limited
editions (in Multicam and AOR1 patterns and MAS
Grey) but these were collector-grade shoes which
were sold out in the day of release. Now you can only
find them on egay for $500+.
The real reason why "chucks" were always popular in
military is not a fashion or just PT. These are great for
over the beach and maritime/waterborne operations.
They are low-profile, lightweight, very comfortable
and provide good grip on wet and slick surfaces such
vessels boards. They are also fin-compatible and that's
the reason why you could often spot some combat
divers wearing black & white Converse Chuck Taylor
All-Stars with huge star on the side. Some even didn't
care about using sharpie.
