KOR Dek I had have been wearing my OTB Maritimes for more than a half year. And I literal- ly wear them everyday. Multicam Mid's are looking more than cool. Before I will go down to details, I just need to disclose to you that there are "chucks". They are slick, flat and had no additional shock absorption. My first walk for breaking in wasn't so comfortable: hard and flat outsole, standard insole, some heel pin- ching and chaffing. It didn't look good at the begin- ning. But in the long run, these are one of the most comfortable shoes I ever had. As I initially wrote, they lack the shock absorption, so for the guy after complicated knee surgery, it was definitely a no go. I was considering to sell them any- way. It may sounds stupid, but I learned to walk again in these shoes. You feel all small rocks in them and your body is adjusting to new situations. Your body start to balance and changes the weight distribution. After some longer walks, my knee does not hurt me anymore. Since there is no shock absorption layer, the sole has zero drop. It is naturally flat, so we are changing the foot steps. I won't recommend Maritimes as a all-terrain moun- tain boots but for hiking, urban and maritime use they are definitely good to go. The hidden drainage holes and uber-grippy sole on the wet surfaces are definitely for OTB. There are pros and there are cons. I'm not sure abo- ut the other, but I had chaffed heels couple of times. Probably my own fault, because I had wet feet or too loose laces and there was some slack for feet. But the blood stains are still visible on the upper. The heel cup inside is stiff and some may not like it. www.fragoutmag.com
