Eyewear The safety glasses used for duty should meet EN 166 standard. In the daily service, the main hazard is mecha- nical damage, but also a contact with biological material (blood and saliva). Thus, when choosing eyewear to use on-duty, it is worth paying attention if a visor has a high mechanical resistance („A" - high energy impact). Nowadays, the products of all leading tactical eyewe- ar manufacturers meet the requirements of the EN 166. Safety glasses provide a protection against a direct con- tact with biological material - for example, when you are intentionally spat upon or you have a contact with blood (in case of massive bleeding). Nevertheless, they fail to protect against airborne aerosol particles (e.g. saliva). A higher level of protection is provided by safety goggles. Photo: WOT Photo: WOT www.fragoutmag.com
