Protective suits The single-use protective suits used by the officers should be adapted to the daily conditions of being on duty. Their most important property should be resistan- ce to mechanical damage. Under normal circumstances, the protective suits are used during inspections of the crime scenes. It is heavy physical work in the various conditions and circumstances, frequently also in the for- ced body position and in the environment in which there are many objects that can interrupt continuity of the suit material (glass, metal fragments, etc.). In the pandemic conditions, the PPE, including suits, are used more often in daily interventions against per- sons who may be pathogen carriers. You should be aware that all elements of the policeman's equipment, such as firearms or handcuffs worn on the duty belt, can break the material in unfavorable circumstances. This risk in- creases, if you use direct coercion measures. The suit used on duty on the day-today basis as the PPE, when exposed to biological agents, should be resistant to me- chanical damage and provide protection against common pathogens, hepatitis HBV and HCV viruses and human immunodeficiency viruses (HIV), as well as against SAR- S-CoV-2. An officer carrying out official duties in the conditions of an exposure to biological agents should be equipped with the PPE, which prevents an infiltration of infectious agents into the skin, which may be damaged, counteracts a transmission of infectious agents to other persons and in the disparate situations - for instance, when the offi- cer has taken off protective clothing. The suit that protects the officer against biological agents should be impervious, 100% laminated and com- ply with EN 14126. When wearing the suit, you have to remember to use boot covers. www.fragoutmag.com
