In the last couple of years, the popularity of pistol mounted micro red dot sights (MRDS) is rapidly growing. Aiming process and target acquisition is faster and simpler. MRDS make the basic shooting training far easier as pointing red dot on the target is waaaay simpler than aligning iron sights. First to put red dots on the pistols were competition shooters, then special forces lads jumped on the same bandwagon and now serial production handguns are optics ready straight from the factory, so the customer does not have to modify the slide or anything. Till 2019 most of the MRDS were similar in shape and could be called an open top ones, but then, the Swedish Aimpoint, leading red dot sights manufacturer, rele- ased an enclosed ACRO red dot sights. The revolution has begun. They were unveiled during the SHOT Show 2019 in Las Vegas and the Europe- an launch took place two months later at Enforce Tac and IWA in Nuremberg. What made the ACRO (Advanced Combat Reflex Optics) immediately standing out of the red dot crowd was the rugged housing where the LED emitter was fully enclosed for improved resistance against the dirt. To that mo- ment, as already mentioned in the lead, MRDS for pi- stols were very compact, lightweight but they were built with an open top, so the emitter could get cove- red with mud or dust making the red dot impossible to see. Some shooters placed "then-micro" Aimpoint T1 type sights on the pistols, but the effects were kind of grotesque. ACCESSORIES
