Sometime ago I finally decided to buy an optics ready pistol and red dot sight combo so I purchased the Glock 45 MOS Tactical as a first step. Then I started to research the MRDS available on the market. Initially, I was considering the Holosun HE509T-RD, maybe because I had their red dot already as a backup sight on my long gun. Unfortunately, these were temporarily out of stock everywhe- re and I had to wait for restock. In the meantime, Aimpoint sends us a bunch of ACRO P-1's for review. Lucky me, as I always liked the looks of the "Swedish box" and heard only positive feedback about it. ACRO's arrived safely, together with adapter plates for the pistols, so ready to use. I could compare the Glock OEM MOS pla- tes side by side with the Aimpoint ones. Honestly, leave the OEM in the box and throw them away. Aimpoint ones are far better made and fit the undercuts better than original ones. The ACRO ones are much heavier as there are 30 grams (half of the ACRO itself). May- be in the future I will replace it with CHPWS made one. After foreplay with a screwdriver and a bit of Loctite the sight was on top of my G45. Let's put it in the holster! Oh, wait… It does not fit! My old Safariland 6354DO designed for Docter/RMR type optics does not work with ACRO without some mods (little DIY skil- ls are recommended). This was my interim solution before I bought the Safariland 6390RDS holster which is compatible with ACRO's out of the box and fits the handgun with weapon light attached. Initially I was aware that it might be too dark due the thick side walls, definitely thicker than the ones found in open reflex sights, but during shooting my concerns were gone. The housing does not interfere in target acquisitions. The viewing window is large, so the target is clearly visible. The 3.5 MOA dot is in my opinion an opti- mal one. It's a matter of personal preference, some want a larger 6 MOA dot and some opt for 1 MOA. Brightness adjustment – more than enough. During sunny days I don't use anything other than 4-5 day setting and on the indoor ranger I stick to 3-4 day setting. The adjustment is easy, sometimes even too easy as during rehol- stering you may accidently press the + button. It seems that was the reason for the P-2 redesign. Zeroing is as simple as possible. It took me a couple of minutes and a dozen rounds. I zeroed the sight for 17 meters and it seems to be perfect for ranges from 3 to 50 meters. I've used the OEM adjustment tool, but during the DSEI 2021 the guys from Aimpo- int gave me a cool universal sight adjustment tool from Extrema Ratio. Adjustment is pretty easy with audible clicks. The enclosed red dot is perfect. Sure, it is heavier, it is bigger and the window is smaller but during the shooting you won't notice that. You can notice that it will work in full mud and rain without any issues. Mud on the glass? Just clean it off with your finger. I've been extensively using the Aimpoint ACRO P-1 for a couple of months. Didn't care about it too much. I used to charge my gun or for admin reloads. Nothing bad is happening. It does not fog up, it does not get loose. The boxy P-1 works well on my Glock! RABBIT: ACCESSORIES
