THE RANCH
The Mystery Ranch is one of the most reco-
gnized manufacturers of backpacks designed
for the military and professional use (including
firefighters, as not too many know). This has
been attributed to its bombproof robustness,
thoughtful pdesigns and good comfort. MR's
approach to the classic „three-day pack,, known
as the 3 Day Assault Pack, a.k.a. simply 3DAP,
proved to be one of the most innovative so-
lutions in this market. The pack was not only
roomy, but also adapted to modern battlefield
conditions and compatible with ballistic vests.
The Mystery Ranch company itself, based in
mountainous Bozeman, Montana, was founded
in 2000 by Dana Gleason and Renée Sippel-
Baker, based on the do-experience gained ear-
lier at Dana Design. Mystery Ranch backpacks
in various versions can be found on the humps
of soldiers, hunters and firefighters around the
world. In 2016, the company won a prestigious
contract for US SOF - in the next edition of the
SPEAR program, three backpacks of different
sizes (Patrol, Recce and Assault) are MR pro-
ducts, now also available to other users in the
Blackjack series (slightly different).
