control of the owners, which guarantees that only good gear goes to the customers. IN ACTION A combat uniform, like a combat uniform, one might say. Seemingly yes, but nevertheless a few things set it apart. The cut is not particularly different from mainstay designs from other companies and draws on pro- ven solutions - that's true. However, there is no denying that this is a well-thought-out uniform and clearly based on the combat experience of its designers, which is not so common. Kandahar combat uniforms feature proven solutions with specific application in mind. Also fabrics are chosen wisely,, the best example of which is the flexible stretch used which seems to be much thicker and more durable than alternatives known from the pants of other manufacturers, and at the same time does not decrease its breathability. The pocket layout is „classic". The seat pockets have also been abandoned, which some will ap- preciate and others will complain. Dual access to the pockets in the pants and on the sleeves of the combat shirts is an excellent choice - in some situations, especially when sitting in vehic- les, this is the only way to get to their contents. The ventilation system is well thought out, becau- se on the one hand it provides good airflow, cre- ating a kind of „tunnel" from the knee to the groin, and on the other hand - the zippers are arranged in such a way that they do not affect the comfort of user, do not pinch at all, and at the same time their accidental opening, closing or snagging is es- sentially impossible. The shock pad pockets may be controversial – you can't fault their functionality and thoughtful design, but some users don't see the point of an „integral" shock pad layer. It undoubtedly incre- ases the weight and thickness around the knee (and in the summer you can really feel it), it also makes sewing more difficult and increases (pro- bably slightly) the price. Sure, it provides some basic padding and insulation, but at a really very basic level, and if you want real protection, you still need to put on extra pad or just put on knee pads. It's worth considering whether it might be a better idea to remove this layer and place some nylon webbing or fabric outside of the knee. The lower leg of pants with a drawstring is desi- gned and made very well, it would be difficult to complain about anything here, and you can certa- inly give a go for the hook, which many manufac- turers seem to forget. Kandahar Combat Shirt is all about good fabrics. The body is stretchy and breathable, but at the same time very comfortable. Sleeves and hoods are NYCO, but mesh under the arms is no longer so popular. It's a pity, because on hot days they „do the job". - seemingly not much, but neverthe- less they improve air flow. Pockets for pads on the elbows are again well-thought, contoured so as not to impede movement. Well, there is no integral padding here. Pockets on the sleeves - ordinary but slanted at a good angle for easy use with an additional zipper for access in tight spaces. Hoods are spacious and comfortable, with a drawstring, which, howe- ver, could be equipped with some kind of stopper, because currently you just have to tie both ends of the drawstring in a bow. The hood is double- -layered, so that it provides very nice protection in worse weather conditions, but at the same time it is not thick and stiff, so that when you do not use it, it does not interfere with your back. In overall, reliable, nicely made and well-tho- ught-out combat uniform but with some details to improve in its next generation which is coming soon. www.fragoutmag.com
