DOWNRANGE I've just started my adventure with P-415 but I already did some mods. I've replaced the standard pistol grip with the one from Fabry- ka Broni MSBS/GROT which is far more comfortable, added weapon- light and Unity Tactical VFG stub- by grip as it is my preferred setup. I am still learning my new gun as the handling is slightly different from standard AR, considering open bolt lock. The magazine release button on the right side of the lower will defi- nitely take some time getting used to. Due to the placement of the bolt release button above it, the distan- ce between the magazine release button and itself is about 1 mm. I'm afraid that when shooting with glo- ves, working quickly on the weapon and still, for example, slightly fro- zen hands, there may be a problem with this, because it is necessary to hit this button fairly precisely to release the magazine. All the other switches and pad- dles work great, I only have to re- member about that bolt open lock. The P-415 has raised top of the upper which definitely requires a slightly different positioning. It's higher than typical AR but still lo- wer than with optics on risers. So- mething in-between. I used to have an EOTECH EXPS on Unity Tactical Optics Riser which worked great for me, but now I have to find so- mething which is going to work on this rifle. Another thing I am considering is swap of MFT stock as the QD loop placement does not really work for me (other than that, the stock is great and comfortable). So, how does it work? Better than good! I was mostly shooting on 50 meter lanes (and 100 meters once) to see how it "eats" different rounds but the gun was running smoothly. It kicks slightly harder than my last PWS (long-stroke piston) but it's due its mechanics. It is stable during shooting and only the repla- cement of the muzzle device could improve it slightly. 1:7 barrel is better tailored for heavier rounds (62 grains) if sho- oting 100 meters distances The 55 grains rounds will not offer as tight groups. For now I'm taming the P-415 and we're slowly getting along - I'll see what the final configuration will be and I'll probably show it off then. If someone were to tell me now to answer the question "what is this POF-USA P-415 Edge like?", I would answer the way Foresta Gump's teacher said about him to his mother "Mrs. Gump, your son is.... different." And that's what the P-415 is - different from everyone else. Unique. www.fragoutmag.com
