On 25 and 26 March, two NATO air contingents landed at the 22nd Air
Base in Królewo Malborskie (ICAO: EPMB); over the coming months they
will operate alongside Polish pilots. The main purpose of this reinforcement
is to support NATO allies on the Alliance's eastern flank—a response to the
diminished security resulting from Russia's aggression against Ukraine.
Chronologically, the first to redeploy their aircraft to Poland were the British.
The Royal Air Force dispatched six multirole Eurofighter Typhoons to Królewo
Malborskie, flying direct from RAF Lossiemouth in Scotland: one of the main
basing locations for RAF's Typhoons, which are responsible for defending the
northern United Kingdom and the airspace over the North Sea. On their ferry
flight to Poland, the Typhoons did not refuel in flight; some carried three auxiliary
