equipped ALICE All-purpose Lightweight Indivdual Carrying Equipment in standard configuration with two triple 30 round magazine pouches, 1qt canteen cover, 1qt canteen and cup (the common practice was to have two of them), e-tool in plastic cover, field pack aka buttpack, LC-1 (metal wire buckle) or LC-2 (grey plastic buckle) belt, Y-suspenders and medical/compass pouch. Optional first aid kit was mostly in use with USMC. The ALICE was general issue for the main part of ground forces but parts of old M1956 LCE and M1967 MLCE were also seen in use. desert stOrm The effect of collected experiences was visible during the Second Gulf War which stared 12 years later – then armed forces of the countries belonging to a Coalition were prepared to fight much more better than during the first war. These were the times after the end of the Cold War when one expected the epic combats on the European battle fields. In this article we would like to present basic parts of the US soldiers equipment who took part in the "Operation Desert Storm". An overview comprises a basic equipment which is commonly used, in large quantities – it does not take into consideration older carrying equipment (or its elements such as MLCE (M1967) or LCE (M1956).
