The effect of collected experiences was visible during the Second Gulf War which stared 12 years
later – then armed forces of the countries belonging to a Coalition were prepared to fight much
more better than during the first war. In 1991 it was common, in fact, to use equipment and uni-
forms adapted to the woodland areas (it referred both to uniforms, and chemical protective suits),
and even jungle boots what were a curse for soldiers. It resulted from a quick movement to the
operation area a great numbers of military forces, and nobody before had anticipated an activity of
so great formations in the Middle East. These were the times after the end of the Cold War when one
expected the epic combats on the European battle fields.
In this article we would like to present basic parts of the US soldiers equipment who took part
in the "Operation Desert Storm". An overview comprises a basic equipment which is commonly used,
in large quantities – it does not take into consideration older carrying equipment (or its elements
such as MLCE (M1967) or LCE (M1956).
