The relationships between a captain and the MarSec team are so different as different are people. The captains aware of the thread who had survived a pirate attack or are experienced in sailing in the high-risk zones, are for sure more friendly and understanding for the security team than those who cannot imagine such a thread. It happens that it comes to provocations and malicious writing of negative opinions about the team members who perform their duties reliably and thoroughly but they do not fall into a captain's taste in terms of character traits. There are also situations when a captain entirely takes into account suggestions of the TL in relation to the preparing a ship for a pirate attack as for instance protecting with a razor wire (commonly, but incorrectly called concertina wire), welded steel shooting positions or creating blockages which will impede movement of pirates when they make a boarding. Unfortunately, such captains are in the minority and it is very hard to change an attitude of people who are not aware of the thread as it was mentioned before. A significant element in making aware of the relationships and reality on the ship is usually placing team members in the separate ship's cabin, although temporarily it happens that the MarSec operators must stay in one room, but it is a very rare situation.
