sof Pcu
The PCU was a breakthrough solution since up
that moment the operators had to depend on their
issued clothing and mix it with privately purchased
items which often offered better quality. This system
determined an important trend in the comprehensive
attitude towards creating the uniforms so that the all
elements were like the items of one puzzle. Since 2003,
the SOF PCU, has undergone the significant upgrades,
in particular in terms of the cut of the selected items
and applying more and more modern and advanced
fabrics. The first stage of upgrade was SOF PCU Block I
commonly referred to as the second generation, and in
2012 works on modified SOF PCU Block II variant were
started.
One of the items of the new version of the system are
two insulation jackets of the Level 3 which replaced
high-loft fleece jacket- Level 3A and Level 3B, which
differs with the complexity level, fabric and insulation.
A contract for a manufacturing the Level 3A which is
a lightweight jacket, and essentially an equivalent of
the lightweight down sweater, gone to Patagonia,
a renowned manufacturer of the outdoor clothing
(however having the previous experiences with the
military customers in the Patagonia MARS line). The
Polartec LLC is responsible for the internals – the next
gen insulation Polartec Alpha.
