CKD-1 on the range
Our shooting tests were conducted with the PWS MK114 rifle with .223 Remington 62 gr FMJ Barnaul
ammunitions. It should be also clear that in the field area of the precision shooting I am rather beginner and
the rifle was not fitted with precision shooting trigger what would certainly have an influence on a result.
But, to be honest, it is a sight for the rifleman not the marksman.
SHORT DISTANCE
We received the sight in the period when we shot
a great deal at a small distance (below 100 meters,
frequently even below 25 meters, CQB drills) what
slightly discouraged us to it since it is not intended
for that kind of work. But while we were shooting
so we will drop a line….
The main sight has very narrow FOV. A problem
results from a low tolerance of the distance between
an eye and an eye-piece, and even a minimum
reallocation makes an instant narrowing of the field
of vision. The buttstock has to be extended and
train a lot so that perfectly hit in this distance – then
the sight works very well.
The micro sight, as I have written before, is placed
in the upper part of main sight what requires
from a shooter detaching his chin from the butt
so targeting is provided in a sense with "a head in
the air". Indeed, the micro sight should be always
considered as a backup sight (OMG, they're here!)
for immediate transition from long distance target
to close distance target. Personally, I got used very
quickly to using a backup sight with the offset
mount which requires only changing a rifle by 45°,
and a chin still leans against the butt.
The reticle is clearly visible and readable, calibrated
up to 600 meters, for .223REM/5.56mm NATO
ammunition about which we are informed with
a marking in the lower part: "BERL 5.56".
