The beginnings of the special operations forces Multi- Purpose Vehicles procuring have their roots in 2012 when the Armament Inspectorate performed an analytical and conceptual phase of this task. Within its scope was commissioned a market analysis and a technical dialogue and then preliminary tactical and technical assumptions were developed. An end of this phase is planned for the end of this year. Proceedings connected with acquiring SOF Multi- Purpose Vehicles is supposed to be conducted in 2016, and supplies – at the earliest in 2017. The analytical and conceptual phase of Pegaz was started with a procedure of market analysis, as a part of which on 2nd November 2012 the Armament Inspectorate submitted RFI to the potential suppliers. It was resubmitted again 21st August 2014. Then at the end of last year and in March 2015 were held discussions as a part of the technical procedure dialogue. Ultimately, the Pegaz programme is supposed to find a design which is similar conceptually do the MRAP vehicles of the M-ATV type, whereby there will be sought two substantial variants – a patrol (combat) and command one. It is referred to an order of even 500 vehicles, both for the Special Forces and the Land Forces. In order to meet those expectations, AMZ-Kutno. undertook works on the entirely Polish proposition for the Pegaz program, using by that its own experience gained not only when designing lightweight vehicles but also from the Hipopotam series. The TUr v is a 4x4 patrol vehicle built which is characterized by allowable total weight of 12-13 tons. It is driven by a 7.2 liters Mercedes Benz turbocharged Diesel engine with a power of 240kW. It has an independent suspension. Its hubs and axles are delivered by Timoney Technologies and a chassis design was a result of a cooperation with an equally renowned Voith company. Finally, the Tur V will be equipped with a suspension with hydro- pneumatic servomotors. What is important, all works are commissioned by AMZ-KUTno and this Polish company has legal rights to the applied solutions. So, there are no license restrictions. An Allison 3000SP automatic transmission also originates from a top producer of such subassemblies. An overall design outline of the vehicle is classic as for the armored patrol vehicle. A centrally and highly embedded cabin fulfils a role of the armored citadel while an engine compartment and a rear cargo one are not armored, but fitted with a shield made of a light www.fragoutmag.com
