A modern sniper has completed intensive and complex training courses, operates largely autonomous-
ly and deploys a precision sniper rifle including high-end optical sights, optoelectronic and radio equip-
ment. According to his mission profile he may be accompanied by at least one more qualified sniper,
the "spotter", who acts as observer. Depending on their armament such sniper team may be effective
at ranges of up to 1.800 meters. Yet even longer distances are on records. In November 2009, the
British Corporal of Horse Craig Harrison killed two enemy machine gunners in the Helmand Province
in Afghanistan at a distance of 2475 meters. In the Iraq, legendary US Navy SEAL sniper Chris Kyle trig-
gered his longest kill shot from as far as 1920 meters away.
