Leclerc, This French GIAT/NEXTER Leclerc Main Battle Tank was demonstrated by joint KMW and Nexter as an example for tank modernization approach. This particular solution is offered mostly for UAE as the sole foreign user of the Leclerc tanks which has deployed them in Yemen. The French Army is upgrading Leclercs for the Scorpion program. Tanks will be fitted with CONTAC communication system and SICS battle management systems. The ballistic protection level was upgraded toward protection against IED and RPG threats and the new fire control systems and jamming systems will be also installed on board. After the upgrade, Leclercs should remain in service until 2035-2040.
