environments. The flat sole did not provide sufficient or any cushioning for the foot. There were several compa- nies that tried to upgrade these boots, but the only one that actually managed to do that was the American OTB that launched JungleLites in 2007 (totally synthetic ma- terial that did not absorb water). It must be admitted that it was a worthy successor of the classic model – light- weight, durable, perfect for wet environments and, at the same time, very comfortable, providing good grip for the feet and their cushioning. Unfortunately, after OTB was taken over by New Balance, the production of those boots was ceased. Eventually, the stocks available for sale de- pleted. My JungleLites served me well. I used them during several events of Marine Commando Runs, some swamp trekkings and in jungles of Panama. Now, they were finally replaced by a worthy successor, Salomon Forces Jungle Ultra. I got my pair of Salomon Forces Jungle Ultra in 2016, just after they were released. My feet almost did not have to get used to these boots, I felt comfortable (but you must remember to select the correct size; when it comes to Salomon footwear, the same size in another model may be different). They are lightweight and fast drying (even when totally wet). The lining of the tongue conveniently fits to the leg, even if the cuff of pants is forced into the boot (e.g. in the case of Patagonia JU Pants that protect against mosquitoes and leeches). When there is a muddy surface, the sole remains stable. In a forest or on sand, it provides good cushioning. The FOOTWEAR
