infantry stationed, and more than 350 companies will be distributed across smaller districts. Each company is to function based on a specific profile. The most common profile will include soldiers prepared for general operations, but there will also be special mountain, marine, and urban companies. The basic element of TDF is the light infantry section com- posed of twelve soldiers of different specializations. ParT iV – WHY Do We neeD TDf? Armed forces stationed locally, perfectly acquainted not only with the area of operations, but also with the commu- nity inhabiting such area and with the present infrastruc- ture are invaluable when it comes to conducting operations. They will act as support for soldiers of operational forces thanks to taking over a part of tasks related to protecting the population and critical infrastructure. The most beautiful episodes of the history of the Polish army have been filled for years with irregular, guerrilla activities and conducting unconventional operations. It's quite reasonable to ask ourselves why a country so skilled in running well-organized underground structures in the times of occupation does not take advantage of this experience. We will certainly not neglect it. Like most NATO armies, we will use them to develop a training system for our soldiers. It doesn't take a skilled strategist to notice the increasingly frequent asymmetrical threats, occurring below the warfare threshold. Right now, there is a war for the minds of the population. And TDF, thanks to its activity, will improve the defense awareness of our society, which will let us fight new threats effectively. www.fragoutmag.com
