I have got used to it. Although I have several other flashlights, Fenix FD41 is the one I use the most often. when i think of a short trip to the city outskirts or a longer escapade, FD41 is always in my car, pocket, or pack. To be honest, the flashlight "lived" at my cottage in the woods from May to september, serving as a protbale source of light. Fenix FD 41 has several options that i have become dependent on and one mode that very often came in handy when i was in the woods. Lights, please! Thanks to the top-notch Cree XP-L Hi LED (various sources specify its lifespan to be 50,000 hours, thats 5.7 years of constant light!), Fenix FD41 is a source of high-quality white light beam. Let me quote here the manufacturer, so that all the specification geeks can compare their equipment with the one of their friends to be able to argue "why my flashlight is better than yours". et us start with the modes. There are have modes for continuous operation: Turbo: 900 lumens/ ~110 minutes / 1 h 50 min HiGH: 350 lumens/ ~260 minutes / 4 hour; MEDiuM: 150 lumens/ ~600 minutes/ 10 hours Low (canDLE MoDE): 10 lumens/ ~9,000 minutes/150 hours/6.25 days. The sequence of modes is the following: Low-Medium-High- Turbo, while the user can switch between them seamlessly with a well-profiled side switch. You turn the flashlight on with a massive switch (compatible with remote switches) located in the rear part. It can be conveniently operated with gloves on. Unfortunately, the flashlight includes only one special mode – Strobe. A pity,at least an SOS mode would be a nice feature, especially because we have a powerful energy source, which is the 3500mAh 18650 rechargeable battery. If it runs out, and there is no chance of recharging it, you can always use two CR123A cells. I used the Strobe mode several times to scare off some foxes. They already learned that we visit our plot on weekends and that we always have some tasty food with us (they managed to steal some snacks several times, when we forgot to hide them in the evening and left them on the patio). A well-checked solution: when surprised by the aggressive blinking light, the animals stand still and can be easily "excused" from your property. I once used that "light un" in combination with "high-energy acoustic distractors" (some of them were pretty vulgar) to scare off a group of boars that tried to breach the fence, which happened to be in their way to reach a source of acorns. After we mount the flashlight on a weapon, we most certainly get a similar effect, blinding or disorienting potential enemy. I checked that out - post-images last for a couple of minutes.. www.fragoutmag.com
