On 11 May 1976, Mi-14PŁ was approved to be introduced into service of the Navy by resolution of the USSR Council of Ministers. What is interesting, the program of naval helicopter resulted in modernization of Mi-8, which was received TW-3-117 engines and a WR-14 main transmission and, thanks to that, it became a Mi-8M, i.e. Mi-17/171/172. It's still in the production. Mi-14 in Polish Naval Aviation In the middle of the 1970s, the decision-makers responsi- ble for combat systems of the Polish Navy, having a rapidly ageing "fleet" of four Mi-4ME ASW helicopters (a simpli- fied export version of Mi-4M), had to choose the new car- rier for ASW systems. The decision to purchase Mi-14PŁ helicopters was. A group of aviation crews and technicians was selected to take part in a training that started in July and ended in December 1977 at the Donskoye air base in the USSR. Due to financial problems, the new helicop- ters weren't purchased straight away. The decision was postponed for three years. As a result, it was necessary to conduct another training for crews and technicians. It took place in Donskoye, this time from 17 November 1980 to 23 May 1981. Two batches of helicopters were purchased – the first batch was produced between April and June 1980 and fea- tured flat, round windows on sides of the hull (they were replaced with convex ones during overhauls), low doors Mi-14PŁ A-1002, Darłowo, 15.07.2010 – just after sunri- se, helicopter after 3rd main maintenance is being prepared for the flight Mi-14PŁ A-1003 i A-1002, 30.06.2013, somewhere near the Slowiński National Park.
