I TWL together with WZL-1 and foreign partners are conducting the Mi-24 helicopters upgrade project. Helicopters should be equipped with new avionics and flight control systems, new surveillance and tar- geting solutions and new weapon systems such as new ATGMs and 70 mm rockets. The Mi-24 upgrade program should be an interim program to fill the gap before new attack helicopters will arrive. O ne of the competitors in Polish Navy helicopter procurement program, the Leonard Heli- copters AW101 Merlin. Navy want to purchase a total of eight helicopters (including four optional) in ASW/CSAR configuration. Leonardo Helicopters and Airbus are the only companies in this program. The decision should be made in 2018. T he Mi-8MSB-W is an Ukra- inian upgrade of proven Mi-8 helicopter with modified en- gines and weapon systems. The Motor Sich TW3-117WMA-SDM1W 4E-series engines have 1500HP and extended MTBM. The helicop- ter has surveillance payload and Barier-W ATGM, but it can be also armed with 80 mm rockets and older systems (Russian/Soviet). It has HUD display and weapon con- trol systems installed. The legacy analog avionics was upgraded with GPS, transponder, radar alti- meter and new radios. The cockpit is NVG-compatible. LEONARDO HELICOPTERS MOTOR SICH ITWL/WZL-1 TRADE SHOW
