Lieutenant-colonel Piotr Gronczyński, pilot, is a graduate of the Dęblin Aviation High School, now the commander of the 2nd CSAR Helicopter Squadron at the 56th Air Base. Having completed a pilot training specialization, he graduated from the Polish Air For- ce University in 1999 with second rank. A graduate of master's program in political science at the University of Gdańsk. He has also completed a postgraduate pro- gram in "Management in Aviation and Supporting Air Operations" at the Polish Air Force University. In 2017, he finished an Advanced Staff Course at the War Stu- dies Academy in Warsaw. Involved with the 56th Combat Helicopter Regiment and the 56th Air Base in Inowrocław since his early days in the profession. He was a pilot, a senior pilot, a flight commander, a squadron air firing commander, a squadron staff chief, and a deputy squadron comman- der. When transferred to the Polish Air Force Universi- ty, he became an instructor, training cadets from the School of Eaglets. He took part in combat flights flying Mi-24s as part of the seventh rotation of the Polish Military Contin- gent in Iraq and the eighth rotation of the Polish Milita- ry Contingent in Afghanistan. He has over 2,560 hours in the air, flying PZL 130s, Orliks, Mi-2s, Mi-24s, W-3s, and W-3PLs.
