If we pair mentioned parts with support of FB Radom and all suggest- ed changes will be implemented, most probably the ultimate M3 version will be a pretty good rifle. No question to that, GROT will be used and abused in TDF but all of this will allow to elimi- nate its teething troubles. The civilian market will also add their two cents. So how is GROT for real? Good? Bad? Let me put it that way – it's pretty usual. As for the design that was introduced to service just a year ago it does not show signs of excessive failure nor it is not some hyper-rifle that does not have any flaws. Unfor- tunately, for now it cannot fully spread its wings and make use of its modular- ity. First reason is that military does not order any modules (but this will change supposedly) and secondly that soldiers are limited in terms of „having fun" with the weapon and disassem- bling it furthermore than field strip for cleaning. That's shame. All in all, that might be good idea to have some spare time and allow every soldier to completely disassem- bly the. It would satisfy their curios- ity and stop thinking to taking it by themselves. What's more, it would give iconfidence that soldiers „get" the weapon enough not to destroy it. Maybe it will require to create new training aids (video, graphics, handbooks, etc.) but it's not „rocket science" and can be done quick and cheap. This might be useful addi- tional modules will appear. Of course, not every soldier will get box full of „treats" and set up rifle depending on his mood, but knowledge of barrel ex- change might become handy. From my own experience I can tell that all you need to do is to read manual and do it by yourself – then its downhill. Next batches of GROT are ordered and deliver now. The Fabryka Broni announced release of new modules, so maybe in next couple of months we will have another story about GROT in TDF. www.fragoutmag.com
