Are those shoes great? Yes, definitely! Are they "one for all" shoes? Definitely not! Would you buy another pair? Unfortunately, …YES. But which one? God's Plaid Woodland? Multiglam? Or maybe I should wait for Urban Assaults? Lotos OTB, the tactical chucks or All-Stars revamped? Yup, these are definitely skate style ones. First, unboxing! There is a big box with logo and the- re are shoes. Chucks like chucks, but these look bit different. Flat, Cordura-made and with lot of rubber outside. They definitely look better on your foot than in the box. I know the reasons and requirements behind the design, I couldn't get rid off this feeling that the Maritime is quality-wise far from the Vans skate shoes. But, from the other side, I really liked the minimalistic form without undercuts or embossed parts. The fabric is eye catching and even that low- -profile ultra-flat sole started to get my attention. Do you remember Spetsnaz in the pics from Chechnya? Since I've chose OTB Maritime Assaults to be my eve- ryday casual shoes, I had to replace the maritime in- soles with comfy ones. Well done. The foot stability is a priority and the mid-sized upper is not providing enough of stabilization by itself. It's more for abrasion protection IMHO. The over molded toe cap protects your toes and mesh drainage holes are providing enough ventilation that you won't kill your friends at the party. The rear pull loop is very convenient, you don't have to take off the gloves to pull on the shoes. www.fragoutmag.com
