BEFORE AFTER
piston rod. Fortunately enough, the crack was located on the
rear part, where there is not so much gas pressure so to eli-
minate the crack some welding and polishing was required.
The rod wasn't replaced because of the lack of the spare
parts at the moment of the maintenance.
Handguards were in perfect condition without wear and
tear so they were just cleaned and prepared for painting. Only
the mounting screws were replaced.
PAINTING
Both rifles were Cerakote painted to Flat Dark Earth. Some
details, such as magazine release lever, bolt release, BAD Le-
ver, ejection port flap, barrell, gas block and grips were Cera-
koted Black. The JP safety switch was repainted to flat red
color. This definitely increased the overall look of the guns.
Layers of paint also helped to eliminate wobbling between
lower and upper receivers. Now the connection between re-
ceivers is almost as stable as in the premium AR's. Of course,
the paint will finally wear off.
