Designs and cuts were rather poor. After field tests and harsh reviews, the uniforms project was sent to archive and finally resurfaced when a new design team was established to develop new uniforms. On behalf of the Border Guard, Mrs. Anna Maria Osik, a graduate of Textile Architecture at the Faculty of Textiles at the Technical University of Lodz and Purchasing and Management at the Warsaw School of Economics, became the project manager responsible for carrying out the modernization of uniforms for the WZD SG. In her own words, „Designing new uniforms for the WZD units was quite a challenge. Working on the project, it was necessary to demonstrate knowledge and explore information on the specifics of the duties of nine different units, taking into account the various requirements of future end users. The design was researched down to the smallest details, using new generation materials and innovative technological solutions, while safety and ergonomic aspects were taken into account." In the new uniforms, functionality and aesthetics were finally taken care of - user needs and design requirements were carefully analyzed, and the designer, working with a team of WZD officers, made sure that each element of the uniform was properly placed and functional. Open minds and feedback from all partners, ensured a very good final result. Particular attention was paid to the user's comfort, ergonomics, mobility and safety during duty in various conditions. A great support during the process came from Kreator company with many years of experience in the production of military and law enforcement apparel, including combat uniforms. Kreator's uniforms from their Durabo brand have found recognition among Katowice ZIS Unit officers who have been using their Level 9 combat uniform since 2022. By combining the right people and the right solutions, it was possible to create a completely new uniform, much more modern and comfortable. End Users should therefore be satisfied. www.fragoutmag.com
