Hydraulic buffer T E X T / P H O T O : M I C H A Ł S I T A R S K I AR-15 ARE HIGHLY CUSTOMIZABLE AND UPGRADABLE WEAPON PLATFORMS. NUMBER OF ACCESSORIES AVAILABLE IS HARD TO COUNT AT ALL. THERE ARE FEW PEOPLE WHO ARE NOT TEMPTED TO MODIFY THEIR AR - SOME OF THEM LIMIT THEMSELVES TO MERELY CHANGING THE APPEARANCE, WHILE OTHERS AIM TO IMPROVE VARIOUS PARAMETERS AND PERFORMANCE. RB5000 HYDRAULIC BUFFER FOR AR-15S Unfortunately, the vastness of ava- ilable accessories means that one can often fall into exaggeration, as can often be seen on various gun- -related discussion groups, where proud owners upload photos of their Frankenguns. Fortunately, sensible, thoughtful modifications prevail, and often they are carefully planned to achieve what the owner planned. Manufacturers of various accesso- ries will outdo each other in their efforts to convince gun owners that it is their equipment that they sho- uld choose. You need to keep this in mind when selecting the parts. Myself, I try not to go overboard in modifying and adding gadgets to my carbines - they are supposed to be practical or similar to specific military models. I'm also not a fan of going too far with internal modi- fications, although I do make some, of course. Not long ago I got my hands on a rather interesting item, a Kynshot RB5000 hydraulic buffer. In a nutshell the Kynshot RB5000 is a micro shock-absorber known from artillery guns and is designed as a direct replacement of standard buf- fer with spring in your AR-15. The Kynshot RB5000 buffer is made of stainless steel and in appearan- ce resembles its standard factory- -mounted counterpart but inside it is completely different from it. Its base is a steel cylinder open from the top, terminated on the other side by a flexible shock absorber. Inside the cylinder there is a piston in hydraulic fluid with the piston rod www.fragoutmag.com
