Most of the attention is paid to the Polish Armed Forces. Civil Defense has also become a hot topic - here a restoration is required. Less space in the public discourse is given to the biggest of the armed uniformed services: the Police. According to the Act, the Police's purpose is to „protect the people's safety, and to maintain public safety and order". That maintenance may take a multitude of forms and is translated into several tasks, ranging from ones commonly known (maintaining peace and order in public spaces, or on the roads, detection of crime and offenses, prosecution of the perpetrators), to ones that are rarer, and more obscure, like counter-terrorist operations. The jurisdiction of the Police is quite broad, as it covers almost all of the Polish territory. Operational responsibility is another dimension here. The Police are to prevent and react to a whole spectrum of prohibited acts, ranging from alcohol consumption where it is prohibited, and crossing the street when the red light is on, to stealing, assault, drug trafficking, money laundering, assassinations, and kidnappings to finish with. Furthermore, the Police are also tasked with executing other procedures, as stipulated by other acts of legislation. Most of the readers may associate this with the process of issuing firearm permits. Last, but not least - the Police are also dealing with search and rescue, looking for missing persons or providing support to mountain rescue services, with the use of helicopters. and War and War ANALISYS
