XM177E1 made in Po- land FIREARMS Nam Era guns and gear are my hobby. I dreamt about this trio: M16A1 rifle, M1911A1 pistol and XM177E1. First two I have are the original ones, but XM177E1 was beyond me. Even if it happened to pop up somewhere, the price would be crazy. I always liked its portability, com- pactness and features. XM177E1 was essentially a grandfather to the current USGI M4A1. Finally, the Son Of Gun – company decided to manufacture some XM's here in Poland. The company spe- cialized in guns trading and also gun manufacturing. Couple years ago they brought a bunch of origi- nal Colt's made M16A1 rifles from 1971-1974 export contracts. Some of these rifles were in absolutely mint condition, some were used in different conditions, but some were total garbage: broken handguards and stocks, missing parts, etc. FIREARMS twist and are nitrided. There were two profiles – typical M16A1 pencil barrel and other similar to M16A2. They might also be available as 11.5". Gun features a carbine- -length gas system but in my gun the gas block is the A2-style front sight post with bayonet lug which is incorrect. Barrel has 1/2x28 thread with a characteristic muzzle device. It is Guys at SoG decided to use those rifles as donors for the XM177E1 replica. Around 70 or 80 were built. SoG's XM177E1 features original Colt's lower and upper receivers from M16A1, which were sandbla- sted and painted black or grey.Bar- rels are brand new. They are made from Czech barrel blanks which are buttoned in Poland. They are 10 inch long, 4150 steel, feature 1:8
