HARDSHELL PARKA LINER This is something that has not yet been seen in SG uniforms. The black fleece or wind stopper has been replaced by a lightweight insulated jacket, definitely a much more modern solution, more comfortable, more versatile, and on top of that, providing thermal comfort even when wet. It might be worn as "a liner" or as a stand alone garment. The outer layer is a smooth-brush lightweight nylon fabric in solid green color. The jacket is voluminous so that it can be quickly thrown on without removing the uniform or vest. It has a fixed, adjustable hood and five pockets - two large chest pockets, two on the sleeves and one inside pocket, the exact same places as the special jacket. There is an adjustable drawstring at the bottom of the jacket, and the sleeves have elastic cuffs that allow the jacket to be easily adjusted. HATS Field cap is a classic baseball cap with three Velcro straps for patches (front, top, back). The boonie hat surprised me - in the previous edition it was a "fishing store hat" supplied with a mosquito net in a completely meaningless black color. The new boonie is very cool, much better designed, has an internal signaling panel in neon green and comes complete with a mosquito net in green, so it will not only protect against mosquitoes, but also provide a silhouette break-up of the user. Additional webbing around the hat is used to attach camouflage elements. The only downside is the Velcro for the SG eagle crest on the front - completely unclear why. Well, unless you put it backwards on the front. LOOSE ROUNDS Three years after the first version of the new uniforms was presented, Border Guard officers will finally get modern, good-looking and comfortable uniforms. I hope that our .50 in 2021 had impact on this process too. www.fragoutmag.com
