Odin ABOUT FIVE YEARS BACK, THE FOLKS AT OLIGHT DECIDED TO STEP INTO THE WORLD OF LONG GUNS WITH ODIN, THEIR VERY FIRST DEDICATED WEAPON-MOUNTED LIGHT. AND THEY DIDN'T JUST DIP THEIR TOES IN – THEY LAUNCHED A COMBO DEAL WITH A REMOTE SWITCH, A CHARGER TO KEEP IT POWERED UP, AND A STURDY MOUNT READY TO ATTACH TO YOUR FIREARM. SOON AFTER, ITS MORE COMPACT SIBLING, THE ODIN MINI, JOINED THE FAMILY. NOW, FROM THE GET-GO, THERE WAS ONE LITTLE NIGGLE I HAD WITH THESE OTHERWISE GREAT, BUDGET-FRIENDLY LIGHTS: THEY WERE DESIGNED TO RUN EXCLUSIVELY ON RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES. JUST LIKE ITS OLDER BROTHER, THIS 2025 ODIN S IS PRIMARILY DESIGNED TO BE MOUNTED ON YOUR LONG GUN. H owever, it's got that versati- le spirit too. Odin has a ro- bust aluminum alloy body with Type III hard-anodized finish, and featuring a confident steel bezel up front. Of course, you can bet all the connections are properly sealed and protected, meaning the Odin is IPX8 rated Now, it's not just the power sys- tem that's seen some thoughtful tweaks (and more besides!). The Odin's look has also been subtly refreshed. It's not a radical makeo- ver – you'll still instantly recognize it as an Olight Odin – but it defini- tely has a more modern vibe. As a nice little touch, the text markin- gs on the light have been given a more stylish graphic treatment and they've even added a QR code. I'm still not entirely sure where it leads, as it didn't seem to want to play along, but hey, it's there! Overall, while the shape has been gently refined, they've stuck with the smart design of a unibody con- struction where the mount is an in- tegral part of the light's body. Just like the original, it clicks securely onto the included M-LOK mount that attaches to your handguard. Or, if you prefer, you can use the threaded holes to screw it directly onto your handguard (they've tho- ughtfully included the necessary screws and T-nuts). Plus, it's even compatible with those popular Sco- ut-style mounts. Nestled in the head of is a resilient borosilicate glass lens, ready to handle bumps, scrapes, and sud- den temperature shifts. Combined with 2000 lumens LED and reflec- tor, it creates an efficient PMMA TIR that throws a focused and use- ful beam. The LED is managed by an electronic circuit and sips power from a standard 18650 lithium-ion 3500 mAh 3.6 V rechargeable bat- tery. What's really neat is they've also given you the option to use two CR123A batteries with a spe- cial adapter sleeve – a welcome change from the previous version, which relied solely on a custom 21700 battery (a hefty 5000mAh, 3.6V). This flexibility brings both advantages and a few trade-offs, which I'll get into shortly. The intelligent electronics inside the Odin control the diode, output based on the temperature and how much juice is left in the battery. In High mode, you get a blast of up to 1500 lumens and 15,600 candelas of cool white light for about 3.5 mi- nutes – enough to really light up your surroundings. Then it is gently stepped down to a still-respectable 650 lumens for 110 minutes, and then to 300 lumens for another 18 ACCESSORIES
