where in SFP9 they are short and wider and axis of rotation is placed bit different. Manipulators of P99 are ambidex- trous (except de-cocker, but it is easily accessible from both sides) so handling of the weapon by left and right handed shooters will not cause any problems. Weapon comes with cocked firing pin indicator and chambered round indica- tor. First is a hole in slide back plate, and through that tiny hole we can see red end of the firing pin, if it's in cocked position. If firing pin is de-cocked to forward po- sition, its end is not visible through the hole. Chambered round indicator has the form of pin. When round is not present in the chamber, pin is even with the slide side. After loading round into the cham- ber pin hides inside its cavity unveiling red dot on the edge of the hole. You really have to take a look at it, to see it. Sup- posedly, you can feel the difference in the placement of the pin with your finger, but it will probably not work in gloves. Disassembly is a classic. Both sided lever on the frame in front of the trigger that should be pulled off with little (2-3 mm) backed slide and moving slide for- ward. We take out the recoil assembly and barrel and it's done. Identical like in most modern handguns. Cleaning P99 looks the same – there are no inventions that would make it harder. Maybe interior mechanism is build little more compli- cated than the Glock but those are not important differences when it comes to cleaning. P99AS is very compact and has no sharp edges, so it can be used as CCW gun. Drawing from under the garment practically there is nothing to catch on- everything is either rounder or well com- posed into the frame. What's more, com- paring to other "wonder nines" Walther P99 gives an option to carry it with round chambered, but with decocked firing pin. It may be very important for people who are afraid to carry firearm w/o external safety in Condition One. We can load P99 and then release firing pin with button and carry it like that and in the situation that we need to use it we can take the first shot using self-cocking that – as we mentioned already – is much friendly that it is in other handguns. Holsters. Well, in times of Kydex plas- tic and other inventions it will be easy to make or choose something for yourself. When it comes to universal holster we checked it with Safariland 578 GLS Pro- Fit and it works. 1 2 1 2 1 2 www.fragoutmag.com
