Last but not least – rust! Well, right, we are not fans of ex- aggerated care for firearms and it happens, especially during inten- sive "training-educational" weeks we neglect cleaning the weap- ons, sometimes even for… couple of weeks. So, the Hellpup's rusty coating is just because of our irre- sponsibility. It rarely happens, as of couple of weeks ago, that rifle after "wet" shooting lay dozen of hours in the range bag because much time passed from the end of the training to returning home. Unfortunately, after taking it out from the bag rifle was already covered in many places by rusty spots. Lucky for us, "mag- ical" ProTechGuns wipes helped in removal. So if we will not take care Next remark is spur of the bolt carrier that cooperates with the hammer. Seemingly everything is in place and works properly but... this spur undergo – in our opin- ion – of too much wear out. It appears, by naked eye, "flattening" of its end. There is no drama for now but, but it's very clear that metal is "beaten up" We saw hardly beat- en bolt carriers, so we wonder how far the process of beating will go in our rifle. Manufacturer claims that it only "flattens" to certain point, and above all it only has aesthet- ics aspects without any influence on firearm. We will see. Anyway, in 2018 (supposedly in first quar- ter) next series supposed to come out where bolt carrier will be made out of new much more robust alloy ("super steel"). So, we will wait and see how new super-bolt carrier will work, but for now we shoot our Hell- pup with old "flattening" bolt carrier and it still works. Additionally, we have to remember that this in one of the cheapest (if not the cheapest) brand-new "kalash" on the market. One thing or the other…. one. So we changed this and that. Trigger was not the only one trouble. We have noticed that during inten- sive shooting, lever responsible for locking gas tube get loose and twists out. Supposedly, they fixed it in lat- er batches and problem does not occur, but in our rifle it was present because it was "preemie". According to "every solution needs a hammer", we took the hammer and struck few times into the faulty lever. It helped because from that time, lever holds firmly and not getting loosed up. Gas system was unfortunate in general, because when lever stop to loosen up, in exchange plastic upper handguard started to do it. It got loose and started to twist on the gas tube what may not affect the functionality of the weapon it- self, but can piss someone off. That was caused by fault in production of that particular firearm, but as far as we know, it does not appear in other pieces. Instead of using a hammer to fix it, along with upgrading the weapon we've change all furniture to Magpul. Believe or not but it helped! www.fragoutmag.com
