ambidextrous, and its ejection port
is only on the right. MSBS/GROT
has two ports and the one which
is not in use might be closed with
plug. On the rear of the ports, the
rifles have case deflectors at-
tached with screws. Rifles comes
with side charging handle. BREN
S1 has reciprocating charging
handle which might be installed
on either side. MSBS/GROT has
ambidextrous non-reciprocating
charging handle.
LOWERS
Recoil spring assemblies are
similar in both GROT and BREN
S1. The only difference is the stock
adapter plate as in GROT is con-
nects upper and lower receivers
and it has a push button to release
the receivers. Polymer lower re-
ceivers are significantly different.
BREN S1 lower receiver has
fixed pistol grip and again re-
sembles the one found in the FN
SCAR. The side straps of the grip
are interchangeable but only one
strap size is included with rifle.
The magazine well is a separate
part and might be detached from
the lower receiver. The rifles from
EU distribution were assembled
with magazine well for proprietary
magazines (similar to G36 ones)
and the rifles for US market were
assembled with STANAG maga-
zine well with side release button.
After last round, the BREN S1 bolt
was locked in the rear position, but
