logistics, engineering units, and other
elements. It would be possible then
to make the plan to establish the fifth
and sixth divisions doable. It would
also resolve the burning problem of
personnel reserves.
In the case of the naval domain, the
situation seems to be clear. As Sweden
and Finland join NATO, the Baltic Sea
would be dominated by the alliance
becoming its internal water body. Still,
one should be aware that Russia could
also be aggressive here. Here, defending
and protecting critical infrastructure,
such as gas terminals, sea wind farms,
or gas pipelines, is critical. The scenario
in which Russia cuts Europe off from
its gas supplies has become a part
of tangible reality,
f o r c i n g
the Europeans to use undersea, and
maritime channels through which the
energy resources can be supplied.
Here, the Polish Miecznik coastal
defense vessel, and the Orka next-
generation submarine programs are
necessary, given the input that Poland
provides in the combined, joint NATO
naval operations.
