During our first visit, the permanent exhibition, which is located outside, at the grounds of the airfield, in the hangars and in the new building of the museum commissioned five years ago, was presented to us by our friend working there who acted as a guide. Admittedly, the collections are impressive, however a part of the exhibits requires a renovation. Well, such are the consequences of a lack of the sufficient number of the hangars and exhibiting them in the open air. Fortunately, this situation is changing, so more and more aircraft is kept under the roof. Nowadays, the most valuable and the oldest pieces of the collection are stored inside. Their origin is interesting – most of them, what is obvious, constitute the aircraft withdrawn from use in the Polish aviation (both civilian and military), a part has been conveyed by the friendly countries or institutions (like sweden), the other are acquired by exchange, and 25 of them originates from "the best donor of the museum", that is from... Hermann Göring's collection. Some will ask - "wait a minute, but how?". Well, this German Nazi was a Minister of the Aviation of Third Reich and had a collection of aircraft. When Germans were retreating in the end of war, in summer of 1945, Polish soldiers had found crates stuffed with historic planes and their parts. After years spent in the military warehouse, they were finally donated to Museum. Below you will see just several general photos of the museum exhibits, and in the further editions of FRAG OUT! Magazine we will try to give you the fully detailed pics more interesting gems from the Polish Aviation Museum in Cracow. The Polish AviATion MuseuM AVIATION
