The Polish Army has been using Leopard 2 tanks since 2002. 128 of Leopard 2A4 were bought from German Bundeswehr surplus under an intergovernmental agreement signed in January 2002. Those are vehicles produced in the half of 1980s as a part of the fifth production series (six in 1985, 96 in 1986, and 26 in 1987) and they were not excessively used in Germany – the degree of wear at the moment of acquisition by the Polish army was estimated as 25–30%.
